Would either of these work for a dirted tank?

I have no objection to buying something else, I just already have these in my garage. My guess is no. Thank you!

Nothing jumped out at me from the white bag, the miracle grow has some sort of coating that is a time release that will mean nitrates/ammonia leaching for a longer period of time (plus what ever the coating is)

I wouldn't use the top one. Includes chicken manure....

Best,
Nate

I would not use either...I started my dirted tank about a month ago. I found the most basic sterilized top soil with nothing added that I could find. So far so good!

The bottom one might work, depending on what fertilizers they add to it. The top one with the chicken manure would probably cause you problems.

Is there a difference between chicken litter and chicken manure? I always assumed it was the same thing. If it is the same, and you guys are saying not to use the one because it has chicken manure, than we should not use any of the Miracle Grow Organic Choice products. They both have either chicken litter or cow manure as stated on the packaging.

I just want to make this clear because I just started my fist dirted tank and the MGOC soil I used states it has chicken litter in it.

I wouldn't use any chicken manure. Too much ammonia. Plain top soil or manure free soil.

I wouldn't use it in my fish tanks, but I do use that miracle grow soil in my grow out tanks and containers in the garage. Works great for that!
