Flourite plus laterite question

I set up my 36 gallon bowfront about a year ago. I used flourite for the substrate, with some laterite supplemented in it. My question is how often is it neccessary to add more laterite to the substrate, or is it neccesary at all? I also use seachem root tabs following the instructions provided.

Laterite isn't necessary for any tank. Flourite doesn't need any additional substrate materials to work as it is intended. Laterite became popular when people just used sand as a substrate, so adding the laterite gave a good CEC material with some available iron for the roots to pick up. Flourite is very close to the same stuff.
