I currently have about 1-2 inches of reglar "natural" colored gravel, I was wondering if I could just mix a couple bags of eco compete to my existing gravel to bring it up to around 3inches. Would it look tacky? the gravel is composed of browns, a few white, black and gray pebbles. Would I get at least some benefit of a completely eco complete substrate from just a few bags? Thanks for your opinions!

You'd need to use at least 50% eco complete to get any of it's benefits.

And yes, in my opinion, those two wouldn't look good mixed. Flourite mixes with pea gravel much more invisibly than eco would

Eco-Complete is small relative to regular gravel. I think over time it would mostly settle to the bottom, until you disturb it again. It would darken the overall appearance of your natural gravel.. and I'm thinking it would look pretty bad. I second the flourite. You might alternatively try to sneak some laterite in there.

I have mixed natural gravel with Flourite and they mix very well together. I too would not mix Eco-complete with natural gravel.
