Just curious--I've been sticking jobes plant sticks down there periodically for the last six months. The plants seem pretty healthy--is this the best/only indicator? More importantly, I don't want to overdo it...how frequently do you replenish your root tabs?

Tank: eco-complete substrate, 6 months old (has it been that long already?), only fertilize the substrate, no CO2, most plants grow emersed.

That's a good question... wondering that myself.

I observe my plants, and when the swords leaves start to get that white/yellow tinge, or the swords get narrower, I push down another batch of jobes. That's every 2 to 4 months...

Mine are replaced every 3-4 months weather the plants look like they need it or not.

Well, I only use true aquatic root tabs, which last about a month, adn I only put them around my heavy root feeders.
