Information we all can use

Well I have been looking to buy a subtrate for a long time. I wanted Eco Complete or Flourite Black.
I found out that Petsolutions has the best shipping prices by far. Only 16.99 to ship 13 bags to me. Well petsolutions.com does not have the flourite black just the flourite. So I went to Marinedepot.com to check the Flourite Black prices they were 18.99 which was a buck less than petsolutions. But in the checkout I was gettin charged over 79.00 bucks for the dreaded heavy item fee. If you call Marienedepot and place the order with them they will price match the shipping cost of petsolution.com. This was very helpful to me as I wanted the black subtrate not the regular. So in other words they will price match anything even shipping costs which can save you a ton of money when buying 10 plus bags of subtrate. I hope this helps.

Well I figured Id make a update here. I dont want to be the bad information giver. I received a phone call from Marienedepot.com telling me they are not allowed to match shipping prices. They are going to do it for me this one time but typically they do not. Not sure how I was able to sweet talk the lady but at least it worked one time... I guess they are mad they they sent me the wrong stuff. So now thye have to pay for the shipping to return the wrong product then repay to send out the new stuff. Hope I didnt get that girl fired she was really nice.

I still give a thumbs up for marinedepot.com they have very good customer service even though going through a little speed bump.

Interesting information. The cheapest I've found Flourite Black Sand is at Doctors Foster and Smith. $17.99 total shipping for 12 bags. The bags themselves cost a little more than other places, but it works out to less in the long run because of the shipping. With the $15 coupon you can find online, it puts the Flourite Black Sand at $22.24 per bag for me. $266.87 seems like a lot of money to put into coal slag (or whatever it is) to cap mineralized soil in the bottom of a fish tank. LOL Especially when there is so many other things I need to get the tank running.

If anybody knows of a cheaper place to purchase, I'm all ears!

if youre doing mineralized, you could just get some black 3M colorquartz to cap it, its relatively cheap compared to all that fluorite

Thanks for your response. Is the 3M OK to use for fish that sift the substrate? I'm getting them all confused, I think.

Yes, it's pretty much the same (if not identical) as Tahitian Moon Sand.
