harmful Pockets of SO2?

I just took out my microsword, unfortunately it was not doing well and kinda dieing. I did a deep clean of my substrate and a rotten egg smell along with lots of black dead looking plant material came up. Is this Sulfur dioxide as i think it is and is it harmful to my tank mates now that ive released it into the tank? im trying to vacuum it all up but we will see how that goes....

Do a 30% WC now. Get some MTS or stir up (poke at) your substrate periodically during maintenance to prevent pockets from building up.

Yeah, get some MTS, they'll solve that problem.
