I Recently bought a bag of flourite and I set my tank up. Im letting just the filter and my co2 run for a week to just get things going. With having no plants planted in the tank with no light, i look in the tank one day and there are little plants growing... They seem to have come from seeds but the plants look like glosso. they are really sort with a stem and two leves at the top, its weird. Has anyone ever seen this or even if you can get seed to little glosso "looking" plants

Hello AJ! Welcome to the board!

I had the same experience when I first started using Flourite. I had some litle sprouts too! I imagine that since Flourite is a natural substrate, wayward seeds may find their way into the mix during it's collection.

Just my guess!

Mike

I have just had the same experience you had! I have these two plants that just sprouted. they have a very then stalk with two small leaves at the top. They don't seem to be doing very well though. Maybe they are terrestrial plants. I also had a plant sprout out of some playsand about a year or so ago, but it didn't survive and I think it was a different kind of plant

Flourite contaminated with terrestrial weed seeds... doesn't do much harm, but won't grow a field of glosso either :mrgreen:

It hasn't happened to me...yet. I just bought the bag. Most people said it went away in a week or so and didn't do any harm.

I just had it happen to me also... so from the sounds of it I'll just pull the seedlings and toss 'em. I could leave em in there to furtilize the water a little more... but that is really not nessa.

{I was just about to ask this question, but I thought I'd do a quick look around first.. good thing I did}
