hi all,
when i moved this last time, i tried to put a layer of laterite under the gravel. it wasn't perfect, but pretty closely covered the bottom of the tank. i put a mixture of gravel sizes over that and of course over time the larger gravel has sifted to the bottom. i like the way it looks and i think the plants are better for it.
when i vacuum my substrate now (and i just got this water changing thing down so i have been very aggressive about 'cleaning' the tank) there is a lot of red in the bucket. some of this is probably small flake particles, but i am wondering if i am loosing laterite as well.
i am moving again soon and want to update my substrate, so on a completly unrelated note, would ya'll suggest adding laterite again or going with something like eco-complete/fluorite under the gravel?

You aren't supposed to vacume the substrate when you put laterite in it. That was your laterite you were vacuming up.

Aquascape? I'm a crypt farmer.

It's a fine line between fishing and standing on the shore looking like an idiot.

That IS an aquascape, it's titled "The Vacant Lot".
