micro sword substrate help?

I've got quite a bit of micro sword mat and was wondering what the best substrate would be for it? I'd like to lay the whole mat down and anchor it on top in some way rather than split it up and wait for it to fill in on it's own. Will it grow into the soil that way? I'm planning on using most of it as a foreground. I'm assuming it would need a sand or fine type substrate with the rest being more coarse but maybe I'm wrong. Thanks for the help. Ted

I have the same issue although I broke up my mat. Little pieces of the micro sword are starting to float up now and then. So far I am burying what parts of the roots that I can and putting some of the flourite on top to weigh it down. Any ideas would be helpful to me as well.

Maybe we can put a hairnet over it all and anchor that down with some fishing weights or something.

I was thinking of laying it on the flourite and filling it in from the top with sand or some other fine substrate that would fill in around the roots. The mat I have looks like it was just pulled up as one piece. I'll probably break down and call the guy, what I got is 6x18" piece so obviously he knows what he's doing. I'll post what he says.
