Just topped my 'sand foreground' with ADA Aquasoil

Hello,

I just layed down a 1/4 to 1/2 inch layer of Amazonia on my sand foreground of a 72 gal. This would ammount to 1/3 of the total ground space.

I want the HC and Dwarf hair grass to move into this area.

So what can I expect in terms of an ammonia increase? Is it possible my bio filter may handle it? I did hit with a little Prime.

It really depends on your bioload and how much biomedia you have in the filter.

Do you have hard or soft water? This will also play a part in the effects of Aquasoil.

my water is at 2 DKH, but honestly after in the tank it measures at 0. So I suspect it is being taken down by the AquaSoil anyway (remember I had 2/3 of the tank covered with AquaSoil. I only topped off what was a sand foreground (the remaining 1/3, and this with only a 1/2 inch of substrate).

I think it will be okay, I was just curious. i will monitor and run a quick water change if necessary, but honestly I expect my bio filter will handle it...

Let us know what happens? (My prediction is that you'll get a spike, but that's just guesswork...)
