Flourite sand topped with color quartz??

I am thinking about getting flourite black sand and using it as a base and topping it with grade T color quartz. I dont care if it mixes, but do you think this is a good idea to get some nutrients in the substrate?

Peace,
Ry

I'm doing the same in my 90gal, mixing 6 bags black Fluorite and black Fluorite sand with 50lb CQ. I'm going to underlayer it with a handful or two of peat mixed with tank mulm, as well. I'll also use root tabs.

So in other words, sounds like a good plan to me, at least! LOL

Colorquartz can be located by going to www.3M.com and finding a local pool supply company that carries it.

I am currently using 3.5 - 4 bags of flourite dark in my 38g. I think I am going to use one bag of Flourite black, one of Flourite black sand, and 20lbs of QC. I think that should be good. Thanks, I have made up my mind.

Peace,
Ry

You probably find that overtime the CQ will fall to the bottom and the SMS is at the top. SMS is said to be much lighter then CQ especially if your CQ grade T.
