just wondered if there was anything i could mix with my sand. i should have waited but was impatient. would it be worth getting all the fish out, removing all sand, addimng a lower substrate then putting the sand back on top?it would be nice if i could make it a bit deeper..

Hi There

Sand alone for a plant tank is not the best idea, unless you plan to keep plants that are water column feeders!

The substrate is inert and it is best to add something to it. You are not that far along yet and perhaps just buy some flourite and redo the tank over a weekend or something.

You will be pleased you did. Let me just say that you can eventually make the sand rich, with mulm buildup and adding fertiliser directly to the sand. However plant tanks can get complicated enough without adding any aggrevation.

Please skip this post and reread the previous one. Excellent advise.

Aquascape? I'm a crypt farmer.

It's a fine line between fishing and standing on the shore looking like an idiot.

That IS an aquascape, it's titled "The Vacant Lot".

I have sand..

#1 regret..

I love the way it looks but.. it's very messy looking and algae seems to love it.
