Question 3M™ Colorquartz™ as substrate

does anyone know where to buy this stuff? i am in dayton, ohio and i tried to find a distributor/retailer through the 3M website and it came up a blank.

i am starting to gather stuff i need to set up a 55 gal from scratch and i want to find suppliers for the various substrate options, so i can compare prices and maybe shipping...rather see if i can find a place local to order then pick-up.

also searched sites of home depot and lowe's to see if either of them carry it and nothing comes up...do any of you know where to purchase it? ...or where to go to find out this info?...

any leads would be great!...thanx for your time and consideration

Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up,totally worn out,and LOUDLY proclaiming...WOW!What a ride!

If you go to the 3m website, they will show you local retailers. Here is Dallas, I have to get it from a pool supplies retailer.

ColorQuartz is used to color the plaster they use in pools. Call around to the local pool supply or pool builders and they may have some.

Also found this on cichlid-forum.com
For those of you in or around NE Ohio, the distributor is N.T. Ruddock Company, 26123 Broadway Avenue, Cleveland, Ohio 44146, Tel: (440) 439-4976, Fax: (440) 439-8728). Either 3M (anywhere in the US) or this distributor (around NE Ohio) should be able to point you towards a store where you can buy the stuff.
Hope this helps, original forum post on Cichlid Forum is here:

Please keep in mind that post was from 2004, but at least it is a place to start. Good luck!

I live in Michigan and this place was the closest and cheapest deal.

Just thought I'd post an update regarding this product. 3M is phasing Colorquartz out due to business conditions. So buy it while you can still get it. http://solutions.3m.com/wps/portal/3...artz/HomePage/
