Can't decide between substrates

I want to get rid of the UGF in my 15g (24x12) and replace my gravel with a better plant substrate. Either Eco-Complete or Aquasoil Amazonia. How many bags of them would I need for around 1-2in of substrate? In personal opinion, which one looks better, and which one works better?

I think they both look pretty much the same IMO. I've used both. I was able to use half a bag of Eco in a 5.5g, so I'd probably get 2 bags of Eco. AS, I don't know how much you'd have to get. I'd go w/ the AS.

Sorry I can't answer how many bags of AS you'd need, but for a 15 gallon, two bags of Eco-complete would get you two inches comfortably.

A lot of people will say AS hands down, and from some of the tanks that I've seen, I'd have to agree.

How many bags of AS? Well since aquasoil is already sold in volume and you know your tank size its elementary math LxWxH and convert to liters. Google is your friend it will do the calculation and conversion all right from the search bar: http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q...ches+in+liters so one 9L bag og aquasoil would give you ~2".

I think I'm going to go with two 3L bags of Aquasoil because the aquacape I plan on doing uses quite a bit of sand. I also have want to go with Aquasoil as I like the lighter color better.

I would go with one 9 liter bag of Amazonia. Unless of course you are planning on using Powersand.

Do it right the first time and you wont ever have to mess with it again. Powersand + aquasoil. Done deal.

Have just done a 12x24 footprint W/ Powersand & Amazonia, used 1x9L Amazonia & 1x2L bag of powersand S .
First time W/ ADA products, very easy to plant, no washing substrate and very clear water on initial fill !!
Try the search for Powersand composition. Cannot help you with that, apart from to say it looks nothing like sand, more like dirty pea gravel??

Powersand is not sand it is the base substrate of the ADA substrate "system". After using a few of the hard hitter substrates I don't think I will ever use anything other then ADA Aquasoil.
