Soil Cap for new 12x12x12 mr aqua

Starting a new nano plant tank. Currently set it up on Friday with Mr aqua Water Plant Soil Course. Should I cap it with a fine grade soil or sand so that small plants such as baby tears can grow into it? Basically looking for this tank to be a few small fish and crystal shrimp. Any tips would be greatly appreciated. Here is what current set up looks like:

You mean dwarf baby tears? Fine soil gives a more even carpet but is not strictly necessary. CO2 is highly recommended though.

Nope, no reason to cap your substrate. It'll be fine.

Yes I meant dwarf baby tears. I will be setting up CO2 today just debating buying a Milwaukee regulator and hooking up to a 5lb tank that I already have or starting fresh with a smaller set up made by Mr. Aqua or another brand. Thanks for the input.
