Baking substrate?

Hi, I'm about to tear down my shrimp tank due to scuds. I'm lucky they've not infested my tank. I believe in striking the enemy hard, and with deadly force.

I was advised to bake my substrate... will this harm my substrate?
*ADA Amazonia (new version...I think)

If baking is no good... what should I do?

what's glut?

*edit: I googled it. I haven't removed anything yet... I guess I could still soak my substrate in "liquid co2".

Will that kill all the scuds though?... I'm leaning towards baking..it seems like a sure thing.

Bake it, but do it outside. It can stink to high heaven!
Get it reasonably moist and bake it until it is dry. The steam kills a lot of things, and the dry heat kills a lot of things.
