I'm in a big doubt in here, I'll start a new tank and searching for substrates I found that flourite has a wide duration, and also I had a good experience with azoo color basic fertilizer but I saw that this fertilizer worked well only for about 6 months, this was the only negative point I saw in this fertilizer...
There's another point that just makes me worried about flourite, I read that it needs to be used in a propostion like 1kg for each 200cm² and my new aquarium would have 2800 cm² 'till there it's Ok, I would use 14 Kg of flourite, but there's my problem!
A bag with 7Kg of flourite costs me here in Brazil R$125 bucks!!!
Ok, I know 'bout the duration and everything else, but it's way too expensive for a common brazilian!!!
The doubt is, with only a bag of flourite in the upper substrate and a lower substrate with only sand would it work well or I have to use 14kg of flourite to have a good substrate or if I mix it with some neutral sand it would be satisfatory?
The problem with the azoo substrate is that at first it's cheaper but it needs more maintenance after some months that just makes it way expensive too...
What would you all do in my case with few bucks and lot of will for my new tank considering that I want a tank with a dense flora?
