20 gal long eco-complete...

I have 1 brand new bag of eco-complete. I have a 20 gal long tank. I highly doubt the 1 bag of eco-complete is enough for the 20 gal long tank. Would it be ok if on the bottom I put regular black gravel and then on top of that I put eco complete? Or should I fork over anohter $30 for a new bag of eco? I just figured it would be cheaper to just get the black gravel.

Yes you could. However, there are better and cheaper alternatives. You could try to find some Soilmaster Select. I use this in my 46 gallon and it is awesome. I got mine free from a member locally, but you can buy 50lb bags for around $15-20 a bag.

Where would I get this Soilmaster Select from? And does it change my water parameters in any way?

It has absolutely no effect on the water perams. www.lesco.com see if you have a local distributor.

eco is only $20 from foster and smith as well. no way 1 bag will be enough I put a little over 2 bags in my tank I belive and it's just right.

I'm putting a second bag in my 10 gallon even, although I only have about 65% of a bag in there right now.
