I've seen eco complete on amazon as low as $18.. And on sale at petco's site as low as 15.99... The amazon price was within the last month too.

If you wanted something completely different, but much cheaper, you could go with safe t sorb which is $5 at tractor supply. Many people around here can vouch for its effectiveness.

I use turface and my plants love it, but I also ordered black sand flourite from kensfish for a good price. Shipping is free on any order over $75 so just get a few friends to all place one order

What size of tank are you working on?

I have used Scott's Top Soil mixed with Special Kitty lltter (2:1 ratio) $7
Then I topped with river sand --------------------------------------$3

I like Scott's top soil because it has a lot of peat in it, which is good when tap water has a high ph as mine does. The kitty litter helps keep it from getting compacted and has a high CEC (Cation Exchange Capacity)

My bad, not woburn, burlington, MA

Burlington - 51 Middlesex Turnpike, Burlington, MA

I've always had the best luck at the waltham location ( Waltham 75 Linden Street, Waltham, MA ) though. If you go to that one its at the end of a aisle on the bottom shelf right at the end. There's usually 2 bags. Anytime i bought the last 2 bags, and go back theres 2 more bags lol.
