Seachem Onyx Sand vs. Flourite

Just thought I'd post some obeservations of the two substrates.

- Flourite and Onyx Sand are equally difficult to clean up.
- Onyx sand seems a little harder to plant in due to it's weight (very light)
- I like the color of the Onyx Sand.

Other than that, they seem similar. I'm doing it on 2 different sized tanks, otherwise I'd post growth observations, but since the makeup of the two tanks are so different (50g with flourite vs. 10g w/ onyx) I don't think it's a fair assessment.

I was thinking of using Onyx Sand for the bottom substrate where my heating cables will be, as I figured it would be denser than say Eco-Complete on top of that. Is it really sand sand or more like really fine gravel?

I've not seen it locally yet, but thought to order some. I'm hoping it's also similarly colored to Eco-Complete, so that if it does get disturbed it will blend in.
