What type of fish are you keeping?
What parameters?

I would/will use the Amazonia

i was under the impression that amazonia, malaya, and african are essentially the same and are just different colors. i think most people prefer the regular soil over the powder type.

I thought only the Amazonia effected water parameters differently by making the water softer. Maybe its all of them that do that.

In a perfect world the Amazonia would make it softer, the African harder and I dont know about any Malaysian fish but my guess would be neutral.

After reading the website all Aqua Soil appears to do this. SOrry to go off track...Id still use the Amazonia-Normal Type.

There are 3 varieties of Aquasoil: Africana, Amazonia and Malaya. Each variety is colored to supposedly match the soils that are most commonly found in those regions.

Each variety of Aquasoil comes in 2 forms: Normal and Powder. The only difference between the two is grain size. Powder is a smaller-grained version of normal. Normal Aquasoil is what is most often used.

The great majority of people use Amazonia Normal. I would imagine that's because they prefer the color. Look at your layout and decide which of the three colors would work best. Appearance should be your only consideration when choosing between Africana, Amazonia or Malaya.

There are other ADA substrates but they are sands rather than soils.
