Mixing fluorite and sand?

I have a few inches of fluorite in the tank now, and just got some cories. For the sake of protecting their barbels, and any other fish who like to dig i was thinking of adding a thin (1''?) layer of sand on top of the fluorite. Has anyone tried this before? I wondering if it will stay on stop of just shift to the bottom. Any ideas?

The sand will just sink to the bottom. And where did you get the idea that Flourite would harm the Cories?

All mine do just fine on Flourite bottoms.

The myth that cories will lose their barbels on anything other than a small rounded grain sand is false. I've had them on sand, fluorite, and inyx and they do great.

In college....so no aquariums for a while.....

I have had cory's with flourite since december of last year. No visible harm or injured barbells.

I raise my sword in the air in the battle against clado. I have been beaten in this battle but the war is not over. As my wounds heal I amass another army, an army with many legs, an army of Amano's......

I thrust my tridant into the mass of medusa like staghorn. I am wounded but I refuse to take a knee.
