Eco-Complete and Gravel

This question has probably been asked a million times, but Iím going to ask it anyway. If I am going to use a substrate, like eco-complete, should I lay a layer of gravel over the top? Is this redundant?

That's completely a matter of personal preference. There's no need to do so, but you could if you didn't like the color. I've used it both ways.

Get gravel the same size and color as eco if you are going to layer it. It will get mixed up and not look so good if you choose a different color/size. I personally would go with 100% eco.

I ask the same question to. I really don't want to do 100% eco cause its 45$ a bag hear in Canada and I don't have the money right now to put out 360 for 8 bags of the stuff. Thatís why I think a lot of people ask this question.

with what I'm experiencing its better to pay for the right stuff when you start because eventually your going to pay for it. Thatís so far what I've learned.
