Substrate that can mix with natural gravel.

First, this forum is great! My friend introduced me to this site and it's really informative. I'm glad to be part of it!

Is there a decent substrate that can mix well with natural gravel and not look bad? I see the Eco brand stuff but it's all black. I have a 20 gallon with a Black Moore and I want to make his home nicer by starting some aquascaping. I know he's likely to pull some stuff up but I'm willing to keep at it until it gets established for him. I'm kind of relearning aquarium planting again because it's been years since I've done it. I want to get it rolling with proper substrate, then I'm going to figure out what I'll put into the tank.

What color is your gravel? Flourite by Searches makes a nice brown substrate. You can also try CaribSea super naturals just add some root tabs.

Substrate that can mix with natural gravel.

This is 1 bag of fluorite (red or normal) mixed in with 1 bag of generic natural looking gravel.

Looks like Flourite gets a lot of positive views. Thanks for the pic too. It looks pretty good. I think you have the same type of gravel as I do. Now, Flourite will be good for my fish, right? I only keep asking because he's the longest running fish I've ever had and I'd feel bad forever if I did anything that hurt him.

Good deal. I've ordered it and also a couple of moss clumps. Time to get started!
