What substrate if I plan to sell grass....

I can do bottom layer 1" potting soil and around 1-2" black flourite cap

or

2-3" eco complete substrate

I am only growing dwarf hair grass. Once the carpet is filled, which substrate is easiest to take out the grass from? Can I sell clippings of grass or do I need to have all the roots to sell the grass?

Thanks!

I believe you'll need the entire plant with roots. I always recommend a solid substrate, capping has always become a mess in all the tanks I have personally seen it done in and the owners have regretted it.

I'd disagree. Given the option I always cap.

Ad if you plan on growing to sell don't even bother to do an aquarium, do an emersed setup.

Or go BB and plant them in cups. I wouldn't go with any kind of dirt substrate if you plant on pulling plants often. Roots grab soil and make a mess when pulling them.

hmmm I was only planning on selling to thin it out. But I guess most people just trim and don't bother selling by pulling roots out...

are grass roots hard to pull out even out of all eco complete? Is this messy still in an aquarium?
