Eco Complete Topper?

I'm in the process of setting up my dream 20g rimless iwagumi inspired tank. I have about 2 inches of Eco Complete right now and want to top it with the IDEAL substrate for plant growth. I'm sparing no expense on this tank as it has been my dream for a while now. What is the absolute best substrate to top Eco Complete with medium/high lighting?

I wish I had capped my eco with something like sand. Eco is great to grow the plants in, but it's awful to plant or move stuff around with the tank full. I can't even seem to get O+ tabs down into the substrate without them breaking open while I try to cover them and spilling ferts everywhere.

If I ever empty this tank for a full rescape, I will cap with sand.

You can cap eco or mix it with sand but it will surface some day.

Start over. Use aquasoil. It is really just that simple.

+1. If you don't care about the cost go with AS for iwagumi.

Is there a specific brand you recommend? And why AS? Whats the benefits? Do I use purely AS with nothing else mixed in?
