My 75 gallon that wants to be planted, have a question.

Hello all,

I have a 75 gallon tank that's begging me to turn it into a planted tank, so I think Ill give in

Ive used SMS in the past but never used any Eco, FloraMax or Flourite. With your experience with substrates, which one would you recommend? The foot print of the tank is 48"x18" and would like to achieve a minimum of 2".

Ive read reviews and all and after sifting through all that it almost seems like you cannot loose with any of those 3 that I mentioned above, would you guys agree?

Once I get started I will make a thread in the proper section..

Thanks all..

Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in awhile, you could miss it.

I've have Floramax with ludwigia, lotus, lilies, wisteria, and aponogetons.

I have no problems with it.

Flourite I think is sharper and has a thinner profile. Both Fluorite and Floramax could use some rinsing to remove cloudiness, but I didn't and just let stuff settle.

Eco is wet with beneficial bacteria, so it's best to not rinse.

A laterite layer and some root tabs help too

If you plan on carpeting, use fine sand/gravel.

I've used Eco and floramax and I find that I like the cheap stuff like safetsorb better. As far as growing plants, youd do well with any of those as long as you properly fertilize.

I use Eco Complete black planted in my 75. Its only been set up since March 9. Check out my video and you'll see my plants are doing fine. I should note that i also use E.I. Dosing and have high light and presurized Co2. Click the link in my sig to check it out.
