Aquasoil/peat moss experiment

I'm going to be setting up a biotope for my Betta pretty soon may include a couple native loaches and barbs and a couple crypts and stems at most, but the big thing for me is the substrate. I don't have very much aqua soil so I'm going to be putting a layer of peat moss under the aqua soil to make the water dark and soft. Plus the cec is ridiculous and the other properties of peatmoss are very appealing to me. Hoping it works out I don't see very many problems besides the cloudiness at first. I'll raise my oh so the parameters don't swing too much
