Cheap black soil cap

I'm trying to find a cheap dark (black if possible) substance to cap MGOPM on a 84 gallon tank. Any of the actual aquarium substrates (flourite, eco-complete, fluval stratum.. ect) would cost atleats 150$ or more for a 4' tank And i cant seem to find black diamond anywhere locally.

Is there any other good decently cheap options?

How I feel about non-planted aquariums.

Just find somewhere that sells blasting grit. That's all it is. I'm sure there is a local farm supply or auto supply shop that carries it

I had tahitian moon sand delivered and it was decent price. But I dident have enough for my 40g, so I went to petco and bought their crap brand black sand. It was dirt cheap (no pun intendid) and it looks pretty good. I do prefer the TMS for looks but the petco stuff is so much more reasonable and works just fine.

I have a bag of Tahitian Moon Sand in one of my tanks, and it looks EXACTLY like the other tanks I have filled with the Black Diamond. I haven't had it sent off for a chemical analysis, but I'd bet they're the same thing. For the price of the little sack of Moon Sand, you can probably get 2 50# bags of Black Diamond. Like the previous poster said, Just look for blasting media, the Black Diamond is just a name brand.

Still no luck on moon sand. I found a shop that has flourite dark, but said they could get me flourite black. (still a pricey option at 28$/bag)

About how many bags would you need to cap a 4'x18" tank?
