What would you do?
I have a tank that just isn't performing...not living up to standards of the other tanks.
So here's my situation. If most people don't already know, I do a ton of testing and experiments. One such experiment invovled working with several different substrates. I have this one particular substrate that I have had now for several months. For what ever the reason, nothing just does not want to grow in it. I've tried a wide variety of plants. Results have just been absolutely poor. Even low light plants.
Now I know what you're thinking but...all tanks have good lighting (med-high), EI fert dosing and even CO2 injection. Every other tank including my PFS tank is growing well. The PFS just hangs on but that was too be expected.
Here's my prime example. I took (4) single plant portions of DHG and placed them in seperate tanks all having different substrates. In one tank, the DHG has just went rampant (which is what I want by the way). Tank 2 is finally sending out runners. Tank 3 hasn't sent any runners yet but the starter plant has started to grow rather large. Tank in question...hasn't grown a bit. This is after about two months in the tank. Just one example.
And here's another thing that puts me in a pickle....my Tiger shrimp are actually doing rather well in here.
So...being that I have pretty much thrown everything but the kitchen sink at this tank with nothing to show for it, what would you do? Keeping in mind that what ever action cannot impact the Tigers so my pH will need to be around the same (otherwise I would probably pull it and go with STS).
Any thoughts/suggestions greatly welcomed.
