Does MTS need to stay wet?

I am going to be finishing up the set up of my new tank this week. But, I will be doing a little bit at a time in the evenings. The first step will be the substrate which will consist of MTS and Saf T Sorb. But, I will probably not be able to set up the substrate and fill the tank the same night, it will probably be a couple nights before I can plant it and fill it. So, I am wondering if I need to keep the MTS wet once I put it in. If so, how wet does it need to be?
