Sand depth

Hi so i plan on using sand as my substrate, how deep/shallow should i make the sand?

From what I have read, if it is a cap then it should probably be about an inch and a half in depth.

What kind of sand are you using?

If your entire substrate is sand it can be as deep as you want it to achieve the desired scape but you will need to invest in a bunch of root tabs for the set up and add more periodically after the tank has been up and running.

If you are using the sand as a cap over something like MTS od MGOPM you should be fine with 1.5" or so.
