Why would you use Eco-Complete if you're using something nice like Aquasoil?

There's a chance the Aquasoil will mix a bit with the E-C but that's probably about it.

So you don't have to use so much for depth of substrate.

If you're talking slopes, your best bet would be to use lava rock or some such to build things up.

If you want to use an inch of Eco-Complete and then an inch of Aquasoil, I don't see why that wouldn't work. Just won't look great unless you're making sure there's no E-C visible on the front/sides of the tank.

wouldn't you want to put the eco complete on top?

No, you wouldn't. Eco-Complete is heavier than Aquasoil and would eventually settle/mix in, making a muddled mess.

Hey folks,
I said the heck with it and went with new Amazonia II only. No saf t sorb or Eco complete. I will use it in other tanks separately. Thanks for the input!!

I think you'll be much happier with a single substrate in the tank.

How come you didn't just purchase Amazonia "new"? Amazonia II is an old soil that's had some QA issues. It breaks down in a short period of time along with various other complaints.
