Substrate Decision Need Opinion

I currently have white sand with root tabs. But I know it doesn't give as much nutrients if I went with ADA soils. I just love the white sand look, but have only seen darker soils. I thought about coating over the top with white sand but I think it would just get mixed and look nasty. If you have any suggestions please feel free to let me know what they are. I look forward to them. Thanks

i've seen people used some small pots filled with your choice of fert substrate, then burry it into your current substrate.
