AS New Amazonia, Hydroton Clay Pebbles or Eco-compete?

Hi, all I'm going to setup a Buce and Crypt emersed setup using Terra-cotta pot which substrate I should go for. I do currently have a unopen bag of Eco-compete at home but if its not the best thing to use for the setup I will need to purchase something that will work well. Any recommendation will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

JC

something to keep in mind, hydroton is inert and has no nutrients, its also prone to floating sometimes.

I'd recommend looking at Len's efforts:

Also

I had a nice collection going In a sealed 20L. For the Crpts I used clay pots with my MTS mix. My Buce did the best when they were "stuck" on Lava rock with a bit of MTS mud. I had 4 sp flower of 11 sp I had.

I kep 3" of water, an Air stone and a heater in the emersed tank. Temp was 80 humidity was 90. I spray the Buce 2Xs a day with tank water.

I made two mistakes. I brought a few Jewel Orchids from an Ebay seller. That brought in some mold and bugs. I also took the the Buce off the Lava rocks and tried them on the surface of pots of MTS Sand cap.

I'm not keeping an emersed tank at this time. I have one Buce under water in my 40. I have this one (Sintang) in my Aquaponic System. It gets completely fooled 4Xs a day.
