ADA Aquasoil and KH/PH

Quick question here....im about 95% certain I will be using ADA Aquasoil for my 90 gallon tank.....however, during my research there is one issue I am a bit concerned with, the lowering of PH and KH. My tap water has very little GH and KH, about 2degrees of each and a ph of right around 7. Am I going to have issues with the Aquasoil dropping my KH so low that my PH drops dramatically? Would adding MGSO4 or Barr's GH Booster help with the issue? Any help/suggestions would be awesome!?

Yes, just mix some crushed coral into the substrate.

Are you speaking from experience? Have you done this? The issue I have with crushed coral is there is no way to measure/monitor/manage the rate that the KH is raised...and would hate to just toss it in there with my aquasoil and run into issues after I spent close to $400 in substrate.

Adding GH booster isn't going to have any affect on your KH or pH, just GH. Some people add sodium bicarb ( baking soda ) to raise their KH. Brighty K, which is an ADA potassium supplement, is derived at least in part from potassium carbonate and will also raise your KH. I would imagine that following the dosing recommendations for Brighty K would offset any affects on KH that Aquasoil would have since the ADA line seems to be pretty well thought out.

If I were you, I'd PM Frank from ADG ( screenname is Francis Xavier ) with your questions.
