Kellog Garden Soil ***Warning! Big Pictures!***

Anyone used this as substrate before? From whats in it, it seems to be everything I could need/want.

This opinion is not popular, but I think you'd have better luck using potting soil. Garden soil is meant to be used on top of existing soil whereas an aquarium tank more closely resembles a giant pot.

This is a soil conditioner, not a soil. No matter what the label calls it.
It is mostly forestry byproducts. Sawdust. I would not use it in the aquarium.

Safe T Sorb 40 lb bag covered a 5' x 16" tank 2" deep. Find it at Tractor Supply. I like the subtle blend of colors.
Use your own garden soil and mineralize it.
Turface. 50 lb bags, essentially the same material as Safe T Sorb. Available at irrigation stores like Ewing. Several colors, maybe the dark brown is OK?
Pool filter sand (maybe- local prices might make it more expensive)
