I would get sample and test for GH, KH, pH and TDS changes in the water. I would be highly suspicious about the Bedding stuff, but the river stone looks interesting. Are the pieces small enough to work? Big material allows a lot of water movement in the substrate, but not enough to get rid of accumulating organic matter. Big gaps allow too much food to fall under the rock where the fish cannot get it.

Thank you.

I am not sure about the size of either of them right now. I don't live near the store. My husband is going into town next week so I was hoping he could pick it up for me.

I have test kits for KH, GH, and pH but I don't know what TDS is.

I think I will get him to pick up 4 bags and then I will test some. If it doesn't work out we can use it in the yard.

How long should I leave it in some water before testing it?
