Potash and Dolomite Question

I'm in the process of doing a dirt substrate in my 10gal. (1)The only potash I can find locally is Whitney Farms Greensand (0-0-3) and in the artical I read by AaronT said to use 0-0-60. Can I get away with using 0-0-3. I found 0-0-60 online but I do not want to pay $18-$24 just for shipping. (2)Is it necessary to use dolomite where I live. Forgot where I read it from but it said if you live where your tap is very hard you do not need to use it. My tap is 11dkh, 24dgh, 8.2ph, (ammo, nitrate, nitrite are 0).

Here's a link to 0-0-60 Potash for only a few dollars, and no Dolomite isn't necessary because it's only a calcium and magnesium supplement which can be provided by using calcium nitrate, and magnesium sulfate......

I'm in the process of setting up my 0.5 nano MTS tank this weekend, but I plan to use Azomite to enrich the soil as a testing substitute to the potash/dolomite way. So we'll see how it goes.....

@xxUnRaTeDxxRkOxx Thanks for the reply. Im guessing the 0-0-3 is not going to work. AAAAAAAhhhhh, I was hoping of setting it up this weekend. Spent the last 6 days mineralizing the topsoil and crushing a 5 lbs of red clay. oh well, patience, patience, patience. Thanks again.

Not a problem, I bought 2 bags of the potash, and have only used a 1/4 of one bag lol. Don't make my mistake, one bag is enough to last you for a LONG time lol.

So run another cycle on the dirt while you wait. It will strengthen the process you have al ready done and take away the temptation to start the tank.

@DogFish I was thinking about that last night while I was screening the dirt. At lease it will dry a lot quicker since most of the big debris is out of it.
