Has anyone used this as either a substrate additive or in the initial substrate mix when setting up a substrate. If so, what where your short and long term results ?

Looks hopeful! The same basic stuff as Soil Master Select, Turface, Safe-T-Sorb and others, but looks like it comes pre-loaded with fertilizers.

I would hope that the ferts do not come out into the water column, but stay bound to the substrate until the plants need them.

Long term results: As the fertilizers get used up you will need to re-dose, so water column or tablets, like any other substrate.
I hope the product does not fall apart over time. Some of the kitty litter and oil drying products do not have a good long life.
