Post dry ferts in substrate?

im starting a new planted tank with aquasoil. im just wondering if it would help to put some dry ferts in the substrate. would it be safe?

In VERY small amounts you would be OK, but the dry ferts commonly used in aquariums are highly water soluble, and will show up in the water column very quickly.

Look for slow release products like Osmocote, or aquarium fertilizer tablets.

Read more details about Osmocote before using it.

In a year or so you might need to add nutrients to aquasoil but it is fine for right now. Do read up on how to set up a tank using it, there are some very specific things you need to do.

This thread may help. I don't use Aquasoil but the tips on maintaining a tank have helped me quite a bit. The ADA website used to have loads of info on taking care of tanks but I cannot find it any longer.
