Making your own Powersand

Coming back to something I was trying to do 3 years ago.. Making something close to Powersand.

If I remember right, Powersand from ADA was basically Pumice rock with peat and some of the addictive like Bacter 100 and plants fert.

Has anyone ever tried to make their own version of it?

I tried 3 years ago with pumice from garden store, washed it, mixed with some peat moss, added some of Bacter 100 / Clear Super. Worked for my shrimp tank without any adverse affect. I think the idea of the pumice is just to maintain a good bacteria population below the substrate.
