Making a substrate for EMERSED Crypts.

Looking for suggestions on a good mix for emersed Crypts with the ingredients currently on hand:
Miracle Gro Organic Choice Potting Soil,
powdered terra cotta (red) potters' clay,
green sand,
earthworm castings
Flourite Red
medium grit aquarium gravel
charcoal or activated carbon

Would like suggestions on ingredients as well as the proportion of each. Thanks in advance.

Hi saddletramp,

For my emersed setups I use standard Miracle Grow and cap it with montmorillonite clay. If I were going to use what you have on hand I would use the Miracle Gro Organic and cap it with 1/4" - 1/2" Flourite Red or medium grit gravel. I find capping seems to keep minimize the algae, molds, etc that grow in a moist environment.
