Help With My Tank

So about 3 months ago I decided I wanted to start a shrimp only tank and started to do research. My research told me that ADA Aquasoil is some of the best soil to get for a shrimp tank especially if you wanted to have some plants.

Fast forward about 2 months and my new tank is cycled and ready for some life but I am now finding out that the shrimp I want (Orange neos) need a pretty high pH (6.5 minimum). My tap water comes out at about 7 pH and my aquarium is testing at 6.0 pH (the minimum my test can go), possibly lower.

Finally to my question. Should I start over with a different substrate? Or should I try and buffer the pH using crushed coral and cuttlebone? I am quite fond of aquasoil both the look and the growth that my plants get using it. Does anybody have any suggestions? Is there an inert substrate that looks like aqua soil?

Thank you for your time.

Before you do anything I suggest verifying that those shrimp need a pH of 6.5. I'm not well informed about shrimp, so I suggest raising the question in the shrimp forum here.

That I suppose was part of my initial confusion. A lot of people on the forums are telling me that the pH doesnt matter much and they will do fine but the breeders who are selling the shrimp all tell me that they will survive at lower pH but wont thrive and their colors wont come out as nice and probably wont be able to breed.
