driftwood help

I have a pretty piece of wood but part of it still has bark on pieces of it it. is it ok to use or should I take the bark off , I have been soaking it for about a month and it is sinking now, please let me know what you think

What species of wood?

Is it still leaking tannins? (did it ever leak tannins?)

It is probably safe by now, and I do not see a problem with leaving the bark on. It may fall off over time.
