Yea shouldn't have any problems mixing them together. Besides having the ugly mix of pink and black gravel :P.

Fish Shrimp tanks are like cups of coffee, one is never enough.

I wouldn't suggest mixing black with pink... But if you really want to do it, who's to stop you.

Being someone's GF is no excuse for horrible taste.

You can do any combination of blend or layers without problems. Not sure you need 6 inches of substrate though. Sounds a bit much for a 55g.

that's too much substrate, regardless of color! You will get a build up of hydrogen sulfide gas, and the tank will smell like a sewer!

please don't use pink gravel, Bro!!

Tell your GF that pink substrate turns to an unattractive colour after a while, that worked with my wife.

Fist off lmao about that one!

second..you can pretty much mix whatever type of substrate you want with eachother..as long as they dont react with eachother like one high in calcium and the other acidic then your good to go. I have been mixing eco complete with flourite black sand for years, even added fake black sand, gravel from LFS, and even a clay type substrate from landscaping co...so your good to go, just the look might not be that great but it's all up to you.
