Getting It Ready...

I have some Miracle Grow Organic Potting Mix. I've read that it needs to be 1.) Baked, 2.) Aired out over night, or 3.) Soaked.

Which one of these is it? Thanks!

4: None of the above.

Well that is my opinion anyways. Some people soak it to float out any wood debris. Some people let it air out, I have no idea why. Some people bake it to kill the cooties I suppose.

I just dumped it into the tank, covered it with substrate, planted, and added water.

The other "proper" thing to do is this. Personally I think it's a lot of work for nothing, but to each his own. Many people swear by this method.

I just set one up and the only precaution I took was to saturate it before i put it in the tank and capped it. The only reason I did this was to reduce possible dry air spots in the soil when the tank is full of water.

So far, I am liking the results

Ok. I do like your logic I'll be putting it in my tank soon! Thanks a ton! The watering down idea is good. I'll do that too! Thanks!
