favorite river gravel

I would like to create an open river bed area in my scape.

What is your favorite natural looking river sand/gravel?

Pea gravel. Or go to your local river and scoop up some gravel and stones. I used rocks from my local creek and it looks fantastic.

I think if you want it to look real you'll need a lot of size variation. Start with 1/8" pebbles and work up to 1'2" flat river stones. That seems to be what I've seen when I look in a creek or stream.

Local creek in la? You mean like broken up pieces of concrete with gang signs spray painted on them from the wash way? Not exactly the look I was going for.
