Too much clay. What now?

I mixed my MTS with too much clay. It was pinkish and about the consistency of thickened yogurt when I put it in the tank.

Now that it's in and capped with the black diamond, I am seeing significantly clouded water. The filter has had almost 6 hours to work and there has been no change in the cloudiness. I'm afraid that I need to tear it down due to the clay. I'm obviously upset...

Turn off the filter, let it settle, vac off the silty layer that will settle on you cap. Do a 50% water change.

I use a "healthy" ant. of Cay in my MTS mix. It's med brown compared to the Black Diamond. I have ridiculous growth with my crypts. So, take a deep breath I think you'll be O.K.

Pink? Really??

Dumb may be a better adjective!

You can also put some filter floss in the filter to help pull out that fine stuff.

I have const. site sand as a cap in two tanks. I grabs a big handful of extra sand I had to add in one tank were I pulled out some drift wood. Grabbed the sand from the bucket of unwashed sand... cloudy for 3 days. It happens, it will clear out. And Yesm, I felt stupid too.
