Turface varieties? help?

So I think I am going to be using Turface, over Potting Soil, topped with gravel or sand in my 45gallon, but I was looking at the Turface website and saw that they have a number of products. Which one is the best used in the aquarium? Thanks!

Also, does it lower ph as much as Soilmaster?

I have done my research but I just can't tell if there is a difference between Turface Pro League and MVP, other than the size of the particles. Which one would be better to mix with sand?

Hi QuoVadis,

Your research is good; the only difference between Pro League and MVP is the grain size.....MVP is somewhat larger. I don't mix my Turface (Pro League) with other materials because it is relatively "light" in weight compared to other substrates. I suspect the if sand is used eventually the sand will end up at the bottom and the Turface on top. I also would not use it to top soil unless the Turface was at least a 2"-3" deep layer. Corys can definitely re-arrange the top inch or so of my Turface if they get excited. Yes, Turface will lower your PH, dKH, and dGH just like SMS.

30 Gallon with Turface Pro League Grey (discontinued color)
